Your visit will be a bit different now that we are in the transition period following our closure. Please take a minute to note the following before your visit:

PLEASE – If you or anybody in your household or bubble has Coronavirus, or Symptoms of Coronavirus, or if you have been told to self-isolate – DO NOT visit us right now – please wait until you have been given the all-clear by a health professional.

We provide hand sanitiser stations throughout the Museum and encourage all visitors to use these. In addition, our toilet facilities are reserved for visitors to the museum only, and are situated on the way out of the museum. These are cleaned regularly.
Whist on your visit, please refrain from touching the cases, objects or other surfaces. On the narrow stairs, we will be cleaning the handrails frequently as well as providing sanitser close-by.

We have not been able to open the Lords Lieutenant Collection or the Modern Army Display – which are both on an upper floor. This is because the access route as well as the rooms themselves do not allow for safe social distancing. Our volunteers are preparing a film to show what’s on display and we hope you will be able to view this soon.

Elsewhere, we have established a strict one-way system through the museum, which will take you on a journey from 1755 to 1968 and beyond. Please maintain safe social distancing throughout – we have sectioned the spaces into zones to help you navigate. If you miss a bit, or need to overtake to access the toilets, we are happy to let you back through from the start, but please bear in mind you will have to re-queue…

We also ask that you limit your ‘bubbles’ to eight people, and that you stay in your groups throughout the visit. Please make sure all of your group understand this, especially children (who we would usually encourage to explore on their own!). We are limiting the total number of visitors to 48 at any one time – so please be patient with us during busy times.

Be prepared to give contact details when you start your visit – you will need to provide a working contact number for one lead person in your group, as well as the number of people in your group. We will hold this information securely and dispose of it after the prescribed period (currently 12 days) and it will be used to support the Government’s “Track and Trace” system.
Leaving your details is a condition of your entry to the Museum.

Our shop is open but we ask that only one customer enters at a time, and that they ask the shop-warder to show or demonstrate any products they are interested in. Contactless payment is strongly encouraged.

We are excited to welcome you back and have your safety at the heart of our mission. If you have any questions, or comments on how your visit could have been improved, please do let us know.
